How to throw

  • 🥏 Disc Golf Flight Numbers (Quick Guide)

    1. Speed – How hard to throw.
    Low = beginner-friendly.
    2. Glide – How long it stays in the air.
    High = more distance.
    3. Turn – Early curve right (RHBH).
    Negative = easier to throw straight.
    4. Fade – Late curve left (RHBH).
    Low = straighter finish.

🧭 X-Step (Backhand Footwork)

No more stand still

  • Start with a relaxed stance, holding the disc in front of you.
  • Step forward with your lead foot (non-dominant), initiating movement.
  • Cross your dominant foot behind your lead foot—this is the “X” part of the step.
  • Plant your dominant foot firmly as you rotate your hips and shoulders.
  • Shift weight from back to front foot while pulling the disc across your body.
  • Finish with a smooth follow-through, letting momentum carry your body forward.

👣 Forehand Throw (Sidearm Footwork)

No more stand still

  • Start in a staggered stance, dominant foot slightly behind, body turned sideways to the target.
  • Step forward with your non-dominant foot to initiate motion and shift weight.
  • Pivot on your back foot as you rotate your hips and shoulders toward the target.
  • Keep your weight low and balanced, allowing for a smooth transfer of energy.
  • Push off your dominant foot during the wrist snap to add power and spin.
  • Finish with a natural follow-through, stepping forward or slightly across to absorb momentum.
